Course Brief
Are you a Francophile at heart? Join like-minded language lovers to learn more about French language, arts and culture from our native-speaking tutors.
We offer small group language classes for adults of all levels. Classes are designed to be relaxed and friendly with a focus on speaking and listening skills as well as reading, writing and grammar.

What you will learn
Class levels
Absolute Beginner –for students completely new to a language. We focus on basic everyday conversation such as personal greetings, numbers and simple expressions. Available in term 1 and 2 only.
Beginner – for students with 6months to 1 year experience in the language. Expanding conversation and vocabulary, basic grammar, pronunciation, verbs and introduction to tenses.
Intermediate – for students 2 years or more experience. Further vocabulary, grammar, writing and reading, learning more about culture, family and life in France.
Intermediate Plus – for students with 3 years or more experience. Improving comprehension, past and future tenses, discussing art, literature and culture.
Advanced– for students with 4 years or more experience. Advanced conversation, grammar, discussing events, news and current affairs.
How do I know what level to select?
Our tutor can talk with you about your experience and provide advice about which class might be appropriate. We also offer free trials of our language classes so you can arrange a trial before deciding your class.

Meet your tutor
Marie Baker
Originally from the south of France, Marie Baker has been teaching French language classes for many years, completing her university qualifications in France and later at the University of Melbourne. When asked why she became a language teacher: “I feel very proud when someone wants to learn French because it’s a beautiful language and I love my language and my country’s culture.”
